How To Make Your Office Look Cleaner

Rubber Flooring

An office is like a second home; therefore, it should be a spot where you should feel comfortable. One of the most common issues for every worker is how to keep their workspace clean. Having a desk full of rubbish and papers can affect your concentration and make you feel uncomfortable, and it might lead you to procrastinate or take more time to do your chores. That would be a bad scenario because something that usually will take you one hour might take you two or three.

That’s the reason why we have come up with this blog to help you keep your office clean and organised. That way, you’ll be more productive, and you’ll end all your tasks on time. Also, it will give a good impression to your superiors and co-workers.

Keep reading and apply any of the following advice that you think will help you.

  1. Hide cables from sight
Having a tangle of wires in your desk is a big no. You can avoid having them there, and we wouldn’t ask you to get rid of them. The simple solution is to organise them and hide them from the sight of the others. Put a colour label in each cable, so you can know to which device it belongs, and avoid problems in case that you must troubleshoot one of your items.

If your cables are all over your office's floor, then you need to organise them, attach and hide them under rubber mats. With this, you’ll avoid any accident caused by people stumbling with your wires, and it will make your office look cleaner.

  2. Use a desk drawer
We know that it’s inevitable to have post-it notes, pens, pencils or other items on the desk. They’re working tools that we need available for us whenever we require them. Instead of having all of this scattered on the desk, you should have a place where to place them, and people can’t notice them.

A desk drawer will solve your problems easily because you’ll be able to put all your stuff on it quickly if your boss is coming to your office. Also, you’ll know that all your tools are there, and you’ll know where to find them.

  3. Let natural light in
Sometimes, all that you need is some natural light to make your office look bigger. It won’t necessarily make your office look cleaner or organised, but it will change the atmosphere. Also, it will make your office more pleasant to anyone. Remember that being able to see how the natural light changes through the day is important for any human being.

In case that you don't have an entrance for natural light, you can use some special lamps that mimic the sunlight. It will be a good investment that will make you feel better about your office.

  4. Add some plants
Plants are a must in any space to make it cosier and inviting to others. Hence, you should have at least one plant in your office. Make sure to pick one that doesn’t need a lot of natural light because offices tend to be places where you can't find much of it. As well, pick one that doesn’t need to be watered so often, so you don’t have to give a lot of attention to it for the plant to stay healthy.

Natural elements will make your office look more appealing, and you’ll be more comfortable with that space.

  5. Easy to clean furniture
Make smart decisions since the beginning; if you’re the one in charge of choosing your furniture, then choose wisely. Maybe a leather chair will look amazing, but it will be hard to maintain and will deteriorate quickly. So, try to choose furniture made from materials that are easy to clean and will keep looking in a good state for a longer period.

For instance, plastic chairs are a nice option that won’t need a lot of maintenance. So, think about furniture like this, that is functional, resistant and easy to clean.

  6. Keep the floors clean
In a utopian scenario, you’ll be the only person that will walk into your office. Still, we know that is not true. Hence, you need to keep your floors clean, so everyone will be able to walk into your office without falling. If you’re not the type of person that puts papers on the floor or other materials, then make sure to mop or vacuum your flooring twice a week.

Just by doing this small task, you’ll be keeping your office presentable for anyone that comes in. Also, it will be good for you because working in an organised and cleaned environment is a must.

Get a lid for your rubbish bin. It sounds like something really simple, right? Just with a lid in your trash bin, your office will look cleaner without doing any effort. Now, with these tips, prepare to have the cleanest and organised office ever. We can assure you that your productivity will increase a lot.
